Jay Walker - Psychotherapy
You’re not a bad person who needs to shape up but a good person with temporary, malleable habits that are causing you a lot of suffering

MA Counselling Psychology

Registered Psychotherapist

In-person (Peterborough) or online

I work from trauma-informed and intersectional, anti-oppressive approaches and work most often with people in the LGBTQ2SI+ community. With individuals and couples, I specialize in issues related to:

.PTSD/trauma symptoms

.depression

.anxiety

.intrusive thoughts

.disordered eating & compulsive exercise

.body dysmorphia

.relationship anxiety/ROCD

.gender identity & transition

.sexuality, intimacy, and relationships

With individuals, I tend to lean towards using Emotion Focused, Somatic, Internal Family Systems and EMDR approaches. If you don’t know what those are, don’t worry, I am happy to tell you more in a phone consultation.

With couples, I tend to lean towards using Emotion Focused, Somatic, Internal Family Systems and Gottman method approaches. Again, if you don’t know what those are, it’s my job to let you know, and I will over the phone.

I currently offer services in person (Peterborough) and online, and am connected within the Toronto, Peterborough, and Hastings communities of Ontario. I see clients Mondays to Thursdays, daytimes and evenings.

Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.
